Art museum: Haugar, Tønsberg, Norway

Haugar Museum of Art is located in my home town of Tønsberg. The museum is one of my favorite go-tos on Sunday walks, situated at a hill in the middle of the town. Not to mention their excellent cafe.

Haugar Kunstmuseum stands out as a significant cultural institution. With a focus on contemporary art, the museum offers a vibrant platform for both established and emerging artists. Designed by the architectural firm Jarmund/Vigsnæs, the museum features an open and inviting space that encourages exploration and reflection. The museum's collection emphasizes Norwegian contemporary art, featuring a diverse array of paintings, sculptures, photography, and installations. Exhibitions change regularly, ensuring that each visit offers something new. In addition to its permanent collection, Haugar hosts temporary exhibitions that highlight current themes and artists, allowing visitors to discover fresh talents and artistic movements.

Music festival: Slottsfjellfestivalen, Tønsberg, Norway

Slottsfjellfestivalen is the big summer happening in my hometown of Tønsberg. Started in 2003, it has grown to be of Norway´s biggest music festivals with almost 20 000 visitors and and 60 artists at the industrial site of Kaldnes, just above the canal from the restaurant area of Brygga. The location of Slottfjell is truly special. The festival takes place on the slopes of Slottsfjellet, providing panoramic views of Tønsberg and its surrounding fjords. As you enjoy your favorite bands, you can also soak in the breathtaking scenery, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Slottfjell has a varied lineup, featuring a mix of international stars, cutting-edge indie acts, and homegrown Norwegian talent. Whether you're a fan of rock, pop, electronic, or folk music, there's something for everyone. The combination of top-tier music, stunning location, and vibrant atmosphere makes it a must-visit event on the summer festival circuit. So grab your tickets, pack your bags, and get ready to immerse yourself in the magic of Slottfjell.
